MAULLIN'S DESCRIPTION

Maullín,built in 1560,by spanish sailors. It became municipality in 1882, so begins the history of this little town that belongs to its river(Maullín river) Apart from the town you can find many different beauties arround Maullín,like Carelmapu,a village that belongs to Maullín;it is a small place where main way of living is through the sea (products like seafood) and during the first day of February gets very crowdedthants to a religious event called "fiesta de la Candelaria"(Candelaria is the Madona of Carelmapu, and it is the name of the church there).so during Candelaria's dateCarelmapu gets full of stores, and sellers (they come from differnt parts of our country)that take the chance of selling when Carelmapu gets really overdwelt.

Maullín and Carelmapu, well actually every place near has nice seasides.these Beautiful beaches can be observed with the terrific enviroment that this land possesses.

Maullin had a geat wealth in 1930,when ships took woods from Chiloé,thanks to this were built six bloody piers. In 1960 this marvellous town was devastated by the biggest earthquake the world knew. This earthquake was so strong that chaged everything:the river got wider, many houses were destroyed completely and where those houses were placed is nowadays part of the square.

peolpe from Maullín are really kind, welcoming and friendly. They usually help you if you need to get somewhere or you need something, most of them knows each other,so to find someone is not difficult at all.In general it is aquiet place if you want to rest this is the best place.here you'll see the tyupical people from the south, shy people but good people at the end....

This wonder of place is located 77 kilometres from Pto.Montt(to the southwest) the best way of getting to Maullínis by coach(ETM is a company that travels or commutes to Maullín every 30 minutes from 7 am. to 9 pm) the coaches are good enough and the return is the same (every 30 minutes).Lodging is found easily in Maullín,Carelmapu, etc. Cabins may help you to feel relaxed, food?, well there are restaurants which will show you the excellent food we've got in the south of chile.

Retro music festival (held since 1999 and Juan Carcamo's invention) is done in the public gymnasium. The competition awards the best singer of50's,60's,70's and 80's music. This festival is the only one in chile.Carelmapu has a festival too, it is called festival del pescador (fisherman's festival) Where the competiton is based on original music made to the seamen or people who live thanks to the sea products. In village like this you'll hear about "locos" a typical molluscs that are caught in our waters, these "locos" have been very well paid by companies in so many families have lived with this famous bussiness. Well, some people could say "fish are important and mussels too". I'd say that is true! The sea is the main way of living here (or so it was). "Machas" are famous too they are similar to mussels and are typical from Maullín, many people live selling them.

...So Maullín is history, sea, beauty and legend.

Welcome to my World!

About my town, Maullín, you'll find all like:history, fun, people, places, and more. I really love this bloody town!!! Other things you can find here are about music, films, and English, something that is not easy for chilean people, especially in the south. Well in maullín people love the alcohol and the parties, although we never have parties (just some dates) for that reason we really enjoy those days in February when summer is the best with a local festival called "Festival Retro" with music from old times. And a cultural event in a camping close the river (Maullín) and the ocean (pacific) with typical food, music, drinks and a lot of people sharing as one!!
All this and more you can see here.If you want to know some about English pedagogy at Santo Tomas university that's easy to get here too! (well but only in Pto. Montt 'cause the information about this major is based on English pedagogy at Santo Tomas in Pto.Montt) so I will try to update my information all the time.If you are really interested in some of these topics you can call me to my mobile phone later... For the moment I'm just try to explain what this is about, and with the time I'll try to include more things 'bout friends and freak things ...so I hope you like and enjoy the same fuckin' things I do.
see you good fellas!!!
